To me this is like 70ies Heavy Metal in nearly all aspects. I can understand the comparisons to Motörhead but to me they don’t really sound like them, except maybe for the Heavy Blue style lead breaks. What they do have is the drive, gravelly vocals and swagger of Motörhead. This they have that in buckets. Super fun Heavy Metal/Hard Rock that just doesn’t age.

I’m upset that I didn’t discover this album sooner. I had originally come across Summoner when they covered one of my favorite Black Sabbath songs (A National Acrobat) on a tribute album. There’s an urgency to their music, and as you’re unpacking what you’re hearing, it just sinks in deep and sticks with you. I’m really just trying to say that this album is fantastic, and deep. I’m really hoping Summoner puts out new music soon and would love to see them live as well.
